About us

The Castlemaine Rifle Club has a long and distinguished pedigree which has seen it evolve into one of the premier regional shooting clubs in Victoria today.

With its origins circa 1861, the Castlemaine Rifle Club has proved a mecca for those wishing to develop and master the art of Target Rifle shooting.

In 1929, we moved to our present range, previously a military grade facility for the Victorian Voluntary Rifles - the land for the range being donated by Colonel Bull (see our history tab for more information).

Our expanding club offers enthusiasts a challenging and enjoyable long-range shooting experience (up to 900 yards) boasting one of the friendliest memberships in Victoria.

We enjoy a variety of shooting disciplines including:  Target rifle, F Standard, F Open, and FTR with many members key participants in the increasingly popular sport of Precision Service Rifle (PSR).

Our historic club rooms offer a warm and friendly retreat post-shooting with an open fire in winter, air conditioning in the hotter months and shower/bathroom facilities. On-site camping is available for weekend shooting competitions.
