Full bore, long range Target shooting is a sport that is enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.

It’s one of the most diverse participation sports on the planet, open to males and females of any fitness level from 12 years of age.

At Castlemaine Rifle Club, we invite you to come along to our “Come and try days” to give it a go.

Your initial visit is designed for you to meet our members and to see if target rifle shooting is what you are looking for in a sport.  You are welcome to watch our members shoot from behind the mound and join us for a social meet and greet after shooting.

Your second visit is an afternoon on the range (typically from 1 - 4 pm Saturdays), where you will have the opportunity to shoot alongside our members.

Your first shoot is free, we supply everything including:

  • A top-quality club rifle with a scope.

  • Ammunition

  • Ear protection (PPE)

  • Shooting mat and assorted equipment.

All you need bring is comfortable clothing and sun protection, then after a full safety briefing, we’ll get you kitted out on the mound, ready to shoot.

Shooting is conducted under fully supervised and controlled conditions, so a shooters License is not required for your initial shoots.

Within the sport there are a number of disciplines, with different styles of rifles being used.  Ranges can vary from 300 to 900 yards, giving you a taste of what we can offer.

The Castlemaine Rifle Club is steeped in history, progressive in nature and has a fantastic social aspect - with some of the best facilities in the state.

We are looking forward to seeing you on the range soon.

For more information, call the Club Captain, Chris Jolme for a chat on 5474 2552.

Club members usually shoot from 12.30pm, most Saturdays (check the calendar for dates).
